Our Capabilities

We recognise that our people are our biggest asset. Many of them have been us for years. We’re very proud of the team we’ve created, and we invest in them. We provide regular training to help them develop their skills and further their careers.

And we make sure that they are always qualified to do their job well, which is a safeguard for our clients too, because you know that any Scofell workers on site will be appropriately qualified for the job and for the site.

Staff Training

All our staff receive induction and regular ongoing training, both internal and external, so that they are continually improving their skill sets.
Between them, Scofell staff have qualifications in all areas relating to grounds maintenance and landscaping, including NPTC certification in tree work, and diplomas in farm and grassland management. We assign staff to the most appropriate clients based on their areas of expertise.

Each member of the team has the appropriate licence for the equipment they operate, whether that’s a licence to use a digger, trailer or raised platform, a qualification in chainsaw use or herbicide spray equipment, or training in the use of chippers and stump grinders.

Site safety & Safeguarding

Scofell follows some simple principles to maintain security while we’re on your property. Everyone who works for us wears uniform, and all are CSCS certified. They all have the correct training for each piece of equipment; site supervisors all have an SSSTS qualification.

All our vehicles are clearly marked with our company name.

We are very happy to comply with your security requirements and will confirm these during our initial discussions. Once you have engaged us on a contract, we can always be reached via a 24-hour emergency contact number.

Every staff member is DBS checked and many are also first aiders, so you can be sure that we meet all safeguarding standards or regulations that your organisation might have in place.

Specialist Equipment

At Scofell, we invest both money and time in our tools. The money is spent on modern, high-quality equipment. The time is spent training our people how to use it well.

We own all the equipment we need: we have a fleet of modern tractors and mowers, including a quadraplay for single-pass grounds maintenance; a mobile elevated work platform so we can work at height; a remote-controlled flailbot for safe mowing and vegetation clearance on steep and difficult terrain; and all kinds of chippers, forestry mulchers, hedge trimmers and stump grinders.

We apply environmental standards to our equipment, using rechargeable, battery-operated machines where possible, lowering fuel consumption, and reducing emissions and noise.
