Grounds Maintenance
Smart, attractive grounds deliver a great first impression. No matter what time of year it is or what the weather is, we keep your grounds in tip-top condition.
Our expert team will perform regular tasks as required, working to a schedule that fits your requirements. You’ll have a dedicated contract manager who will liaise with you. And our software platform GeoPal gives us – and you – added value, helping us to identify any issues, work proactively, and to keep you informed to the level of detail that you want.
Grounds Maintenance Services
Whatever the size and slope of your lawn, Scofell has it covered. We have large tractors for gang mowing large areas, and smaller electric mowers which reduce noise and pollution. And we have rollers to create professional-looking football or cricket pitches.
Our remote-controlled bank mowers mean we can mow very steep and uneven terrain.
Strimming is an essential part of our grounds maintenance routine, keeping edges, and the areas around obstacles and alongside river banks, neat and tidy.
Because large petrol strimmers tend to be noisy, we use battery-powered strimmers where possible, which reduces the noise on your premises, and reduces emissions too.
No hedge is too large, too long or too fancy for us: our equipment includes long-pole and short-arm hedge-cutters, tractor-mounted cutters and a mobile raised platform for the very tallest hedges.
Our experts can also advise you on rejuvenating hedgerows – what to plant, where, and when.
We take pride in keeping borders looking tidy, weed-free and full of seasonal interest.
Our horticulturalists are experienced in working from landscaping plans, and we are also happy to advise you on new border plants, based on soil type, sunny or shady positions, colour, and how best to attract pollinators.
Our ground maintenance team can keep your car park as presentable as your grounds, and can come as often as you wish. We have a boom sprayer to remove moss and weeds, and we remove litter, including chewing gum.
We also offer a gritting service for car parks in the winter months.
Roses, fruit trees, grapevines, herbaceous plants, perennial woody plants – all need slightly different pruning techniques to keep them healthy, in shape, and giving of their best.
Scofells’ horticulturalists can provide expert advice on what needs pruning and when, and can do it for you at the appropriate time.
Most leaf clearance takes place between October and December. We have a range of leaf blowers, and we use our battery-powered blowers where we need to keep noise levels down.
If the site allows, we collect the fallen leaves so that they can mulch down, to be used as compost on the beds the following season.
All Scofells’ operatives have spraying certificates for weed control. We use only approved herbicides: those for general weed spraying and selective herbicides for spot applications to avoid killing the grass as well as the weeds.
We are also qualified in waterside weed control, and work closely with the Environment Agency when treating riverside weeds.
We offer a litter-picking service in car parks and large open public spaces, such as nature reserves or the grounds of business parks. We can do this as frequently as you wish: daily, weekly or monthly.
Our team members are trained in removing and disposing of sharps, and are also able to remove chewing gum.
