St Joseph’s College, a secondary school in the centre of Reading, has been a Scofell client since 2019. We work closely with the school to ensure that the site is looking its best for sports days and big events, but in fact we keep the grounds looking neat and tidy all year round.

Most of our school clients ask for fortnightly visits. However, we go to St Joseph’s every week, providing the same level of detailed attention that we would to the grounds of a hotel.

One week, we cut all the grass. We also make sure all the line markings on the sports pitches are clearly visible, using our GPS-guided paint robot to create the markings quickly and accurately.

The next week, we cut all the hedges – especially the castellated hedge, of which the school is rightly proud.

Seasonal tasks include particular attention to the football pitches in winter. Leaf clearance and collection are major jobs in the autumn, and we make sure that the hard areas are clear of leaves, for the sake of safety as well as tidiness. And if tree work needs doing, then we are on hand to do that too.
