Newbury Showground is a large showground just off the M4. It’s owned by the Newbury & District Agricultural Society, and is home to many annual shows, including the Royal County of Berkshire Show, the Southern Motorhome & Campervan Show, the Berkshire Young Farmers country fair and many dogs shows, garden shows and vehicle meets.

Scofell’s association with the Newbury Showground started in 2011, to provide a structured approach to the maintenance and management of the grounds. We also played a key role in setting up and preparing for the Royal County of Berkshire Show, which draws crowds of up to 70,000 people. Our team was involved in a variety of tasks, from setting up pens for the livestock to decorating the members’ enclosure with colourful plant displays.

Since then, Scofell has been solely responsible for the care of the grounds, carrying out grass cutting, fertilising, spraying, and cutting the hedges.

Events were on hold during the pandemic, but now that the showground is getting back up and running, Scofell is once more cutting the grass around the society’s buildings, the car parks and the main showground. We will be maintaining the flowerbeds and shrubs, trimming the hedges, and, we hope, helping to set up the bigger shows as they return.
