Deepcut Development Project

Dealing with hundreds of trees on an old army barracks

Case Study

A significant development project is underway on a large site near Camberley in Surrey to turn the area into a sustainable, high-quality rural heathland village. The site formerly housed the Deepcut army barracks.
Scofell has been awarded the site-wide tree services contract for the project. This initially involves pruning and removing trees to enable the infrastructure for a new village. This is the second five-year stage in the project; Scofell was also involved in the first stage.

The project is on a massive scale, and hundreds of trees are involved. Scofell arborists will be placing fencing around trees that are to be retained, not only to mark them for retention but also to protect them against being damaged by machinery.

As the area is in a parkland setting and open to the public, the Scofell tree team will also provide emergency call-out to deal with storm damage or dangerous branches.

Work Completed:
  • Felling and removal of trees
  • Protecting other trees
  • Managing hundreds of trees in a public area
