Reducing Green Waste
All green waste is taken to a designated compost area where it will be stockpiled, turned and then reused the following season, generally on the flower beds.
Reducing Landfill
Through our G Cycle programme, we return crates, pallets and pots to the site where they came from. Crates and pallets are checked, repaired or strengthened where necessary and made ready to use again. Pots are sorted according to size, cleaned, and then sent to their nurseries for potting again.
In addition to their own pallets and crates we can also return other suppliers’ crates to them and for this they will pay a credit to us. We donate this extra money to our chosen charity, Time2Talk.
Minimising Emissions
We continue to look at ways in which we can minimise noise and carbon emissions, so we often use rechargeable battery-powered tools.
Our next task is to put solar panels on our tools, for solar recharging where possible.
We use biodiesel for our larger machines that run on fuel, but are working towards cleaner and more sustainable fuel options.
Encouraging Sustainability and Biodiversity
We are always happy to recommend sustainable planting schemes. This could include introducing biodiversity, for example by planting more pollinating flowers and introducing safer habitats for wildlife.
On new developments, we use swales to remove pollutants and promote efficient drainage. Eco margins are often specified as part of the planning approval, and we are experienced in creating strips of wildflower meadow and other eco habitats.
